International Residency Programs
 
  1. The 2008 Residency Costs are set at $300US per week
  2.             Scholarships are available,  please apply.

  1.  Not included in the residency cost are:

  2. international round-trip airfare (approximately $800-$1000US).

  3. train or plane transportation from Shanghai to Jingdezhen.

  4.             hotel and first-class overnight train can be reserved for $150US.

  5.             hotel and morning flight can be reserved for $180US.

  6. extra overnight hotel in Shanghai (approx. $40US).

  7. visa application fees (approx. $40US).

  8. international travel-medical insurance (individuals responsibility, highly recommended).

  9. requested workshops (group payment for instructor).

  10. gas Kiln or salt-wood kiln firings (prices reflect actual firing costs: gas kiln $50, salt-wood kiln $200).

  11. clay materials above 40 Kg (90 lb) allotment.

  12. personal clay tools,

  13. personal expenses.  

  14. Deposits

  15. A $200US deposit check is to be paid in advance, with application, made out to "Sanbao Studio" and mailed to the  international office in China.  The deposit will be returned, minus $50US administration fee, if application is not successful. Applicants can also elect to include a payment for the hotel/train or hotel/flight package, along with deposit. (See the financial page in the application form),

  1. The Sanbao studio equipment consists of:

  2. fully equipped Shimpo Studio with 12 electric wheels. 3 electric Chinese style porcelain production wheels.

  3. traditional Chinese stick-wheel. 

  4. numerous tables, shelving and ample workspace, indoor and outdoor.

  5. extruder and slab-roller for hand-builders and sculptors. 

  6. clay choice is plentiful, with several different varieties of porcelain, as well as local stonewares.

  7. personal material and equipment;

  8. needs are readily available in Jingdezhen and assistance will be provided by the Sanbao staff in helping residence find the exact items they may wish to purchase.

    The firing facilities include:

    Anagama Kiln (fired on special occasions)

    Dragon Kiln (fired on special occasions)

    2 medium-sized gas kilns

    wood-fired salt kiln

    small raku kiln for raku and other low fire
