     The Road to Tibet

      The Road to Tibet Tour will introduce the visitors to an eight day trip to experience the traditions of the Tibetan people, to their architecture, their life styles and to their crafts such as traditional pottery, monastery painting and rug weaving.  

     The tour will begin in Beijing or Shanghai, depending on the itinerary determined by your group. A flight to Lhasa, Tibet will take you to the top of the world and an adventure in this mysterious and soulful land. You will visit the main Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and see the arts and crafts of a spirited people living in a world dominated by stark nature.

Discover the high mountain plateaus of Tibet.

Visit the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries with their religious paintings and architectures.

See pottery, hand-loom rugs, village crafts, jewelry and religious paintings.

 

Sample Itinerary Eight Days

3 September Fly to Lhasa, Tibet from Beijing.  Stay in hotel in Lhasa. Relax and acclimatize to 11,000 meters altitude.
4 September

Wander the Barkhor Market and Jokhang Tibetan Buddhist Temple. Visit carpet making and jewelry studios.

5 September Sight-seeing of the major monasteries of Lhasa area. Visit the Potala Palace, former home of Dali Lama, and one of the architectural wonders of the world. Visit Drepung Monastery, the richest and largest ever in Tibet.
6 September

Private Bus through Tibetan alpine plateau to Shigatse, center of the Yellow Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.  Stay in hotel in Shigatse

7 September

Local touring of Shigatse.  Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchan Lama, and see the 27 meter high Maitreya Buddha.

8 September

Return to Lhasa via Gyangtse and visit the Parkhor Monastery. See the genuine Tibetan daily life along the route.  Stay in hotel in Gyangtse.

9 September Return to Lhasa and relax at hotel. Evening banquet of Sichuan cuisine.
10 September

Fly from Lhasa to Xian in time to attend the IAC Conference or to Beijing or Shanghai, depending on your individual travel  arrangements for return flight home.

Tours of 14 and 21 days can be organized to cover the many great cities on the way to Tibet.

	The tour will require a degree of physical fitness, trekking through villages.

	Four Star Hotels whenever available 

 	The tour is customized for not more than 14 persons.

 Costs and Payments :

 	non-refundable deposit will be necessary to guarantee the tour.

 	Balance Payment one month prior to date of departure.

 	Cancellation clause: 25%.

 	Includes Hotel, meals, admission, and domestic transportation. Gratuities are not included.
