Journey into China's Living Past


The journey into China's Living Past will explore the craft traditions of the southwest corner of China in Yunnan Province.

The tour will visit sites with weaving, textiles, tie-dye, silver, jewelry, folk pottery kilns and other ethnic minority crafts in the region.

The lifestyles of ethnic minority groups will be revealed through research into craft traditions and the exquisite cuisines of Yunnan.

The Journey into China's Living Past will begin in  Hong Kong and spend a short time exploring the traditional ceramic crafts and modern visual arts of Guangzhou, a city filled with history and the dynamism of modern China.

 
 Exploring China's Traditional Arts and Crafts 

 Best time to travel  March, April, September, October.

 Travel to Yunnan Province in the southwest of China.

 This trip will introduce the visitors to the traditions of the ethnic minorities, to their architecture, 
 their life styles and to their crafts such as silver work, traditional pottery, weaving and tie dying.

 Travel to Shenzhen and Guangzhou on the coast and then in Yunnan Province at Kunming, Jianshui, 
 Jinghong, and Dali.

 The group leader, Jackson Li, will introduce the unique cuisines and dishes of the local areas. 
 Jackson Li is an internationally recognized Chinese ceramic artist. He is known for his ability to 
 introduce travelers to the lifestyles of the local people, in their workshops and homes, be they 
 master potters, farmers or local artisans.

 He is a graduate of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and has been awarded a Master of Fine Arts 
 from Alfred University in the USA. He has exhibited through out the USA, Europe and China. 
 He is an experienced educator of the ceramic arts and supporter of international exchange art programs. 
 He is also a member of the International Academy of Ceramics as well as an Active member of the 
 National Council for Education of Ceramic Arts (USA) and has lectured at Numerous NCECA Conferences 
 and universities throughout the US.

	The tour will require a degree of physical fitness, trekking through villages.

	Four Star Hotels whenever available (including Shenzhen, Foshan, Kunming, Dali and Jinghong).

 	Climate will be semi Tropical 80 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

 	The tour is customized for not more than 14 persons.

 Costs and Payments :

 	non-refundable deposit will be necessary to guarantee the tour.

 	Balance Payment one month prior to date of departure.

 	Cancellation clause: 25%.

 	Includes Hotel, meals, admission, and domestic transportation. Gratuities are not included.
