Enter China through the legendary city of Shanghai.  This city is one of the fastest growing metropolises in China.  Modern Shanghai is noted for it's fine restaurants, towering skyscrapers, scenic river views, fabulous markets and a cultural life like no other.

From Shanghai we will fly to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province.  Kunming will welcome you to a country filled with beautiful green rain forests and snow capped mountains.  The "spring city", of Kunming will welcome you into its midst where you will walk amongst many
ethnic cultures, experience their cuisine; visit their markets, workshops, and their craft centers.

From there we travel by private bus to Lijaing, the home of the Naxi peoples.  We will be visiting textile and silver villages along the way.  In the Lijaing area we will visit old temples, paper making and pottery villages. We will pass through Dali and up into the mountain areas, visiting villages as we pass by.  We will arrive at Zhongdain, the home of the Tibetan Royalty where we will stay in a Tibetan style hotel and dine on Tibetan cuisine.  While in Zhongdain we will have the opportunity to visit the Naxi pottery village where we will stop to visit the workshops and see demonstrations by the area master potters.

Our travels will bring us back to Dali, where we will visit pottery villages and tile-making workshops nestled in the valley with beautiful mountain scenery.   While in Dali we will take a day excursion to the town of Weishang to visit one of China's Buddhist temples, with a side stop at a local tie-dye market.

The trip will find returning to Kunming and catching a flight to Guiyang the capital of Guizhou province.  The country is filled with picturesque terraced mountains the stretch out in wide plateaus. We will visit the Guizhou museum and local attractions before moving on to eastern Guizhou and the town of Kaili where ethnic costumes of the Miao and other ethnic peoples are unique and colorful.  The morning after will find us traveling to Danzai, 500-year-old paper making village with the following day finding us at Leishang a traditional silver and pottery making village. We will visit textile markets as we travel to Guiyang to catch a flight to Nanchang and road trip to Jingdezhen.

Our travels will finally bring us to Jingdezhen and the Sanbao Ceramic Working Village and where we plan to hold our exhibition and symposium workshops.  We will experience the porcelain studios, factories, local villages, antique markets and ancient kiln sites, located around Jingdezhen.  Our exhibition opening at Sanbao will be honored with a traditional Beijing opera performance.  Our time in Sanbao will allow us to participate in lectures and workshops that will be given by international artists and local masters.

Our experience will end with a flight to Shanghai for a day of wandering around the city, shopping on Nanjing Lu and wandering about the Pudong riverfront.  A farewell party with Shanghai Cuisine will top off our trip.
